■ Suelopetrol denies that Ricardo Cisneros’ company owns 40% of Petrocabimas

The company Suelopetrol issued a statement in which it denies that it has sold its 40% stake in the joint venture PetroCabimas, which is a partnership with Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA); and therefore denies that the firm Globalable Holding SL, owned by Ricardo Cisneros Rendiles is the new partner as stated in a note on Thursday 4 July.
“The Spanish company Suelopetrol Exploración y Producción S.L. has not sold any of its shares to any third party and much less have we been notified of any shareholder change in the mixed company Petrocabimas”, states the text published on Suelopetrol letterhead.
The note recounts Suelopetrol’s history in oil exploration and production activities, recalling that in the years of the oil opening – during the second presidency of Rafael Caldera – it began operations in 1997 in the Cabimas field in western Venezuela.

■ Sanctions leave more than 50 Russian tankers stranded

More than 50 tankers that previously carried Russian oil now lie empty and idle in the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea, off the coast of Russia’s Far East, China, South Korea and near the Suez Canal.

All of these tankers have been the target of US, UK and EU sanctions in recent months, as the West intensified efforts to cut off Russia’s oil revenues. According to tanker tracking data compiled by Bloomberg, very few of them, to be precise, only three, have loaded oil cargoes since they were designated by one or more Western authorities.
